To tackle the pandemic disease coronavirus government imposed a lockdown on March 25, 2020. This step by the government is necessary to control the spread of this pandemic disease but it impacted a lot on the Indian economy as well as on the employment of people.
As per the survey, 80% of the people living in urban areas lost their jobs, most of which were self-employed while In rural areas, 54% of the people lost their jobs, most of which were casually employed.
Under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme(MNREGS) in which 40 lakhs workers are already employed. The State Government in order to give financial assistance issued 12 lakhs new jobs card in lockdown period. Out of 10 lakhs, migrants who have profiled as labourers return to the U.P. during the lockdown period, of these more than 5 lakhs migrants were given work under this scheme. It is a very appreciable step taken by the government. U.P.
