KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS - REMEMBERING SACRIFICE OF INDIAN SOLDIERS

26 July is an important day for all of us as Indians. India remembered this day as "Kargil Vijay Diwas". On this day Indian Soldiers defeated Pakistan Armed Forces.
This Kargil War is also known as " Operation Vijay" which took place in May 1999 and came to an end in July 1999. This is a great victory for us but in this war we loss nearly 527 Indian Soldiers. This war took place in the mountains of Kargil in Jammu & Kashmir. The main reason behind this war was the infiltration of Pakistani Soldiers disguised as Kashmiri militants into positions on the Indian side of the LOC which serves as the de facto border between the two states. Several Indian leaders like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi, and many more pay tribute to the Indian Soldiers.
PM Modi also pays tribute to the Kargil Heros. In his tweet, he said" On Kargil Vijay Diwas we remember the courage and determination of our armed forces who steadfastly protected our nation in 1999. Their valour continues to inspire generation." He also interacted with the general public through his monthly Radio Program "Mann Ki Baat" remembering the sacrifice made by Indian Soldiers in order to protect the country.
