NEW EDUCATION POLICY 2020

The Government announced the New Education Policy 2020. The main aim of this policy is to make "India a global knowledge superpower". This policy replaces the 34-year-old Education Policy of the year 1986.

SOME KEY POINTS OF THIS POLICY ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  • The Ministry of Human Resources Development is now being known by its new name Ministry of Education.
  • 10+2 structure of school education is change to 5+3+3+4 structure. This means that upto 5 preschool, 6-8 mid-school, 9-11 high school, and 12 onwards graduation.
  • It offers an undergraduate degree (3 or 4 years) from earlier 3years. 4 years for those students who want a postgraduate degree also and postgraduate degree(1or 2 years)from earlier 2 years.
  • MPhil is now removed. This degree is seen as a hindrance to those students who are desiring to pursue a PhD course.
  • Vocational education is introduced for the students of 6th standard and onwards and will also include an internship.
  • Now no board exams in the 10th standard. 
  •  Up to 5th standard, students will be taught in their Mother tongue, Local language, and Regional Language.
  • There will be the same set of norms for regulation, accreditation, and academic standard for the public and private higher education.
  • There will be semester wise exams in schools twice a year.
  • The syllabus will also get reduced. The main focus is to provide practical knowledge to students.
The above changes in the education system are par with the international standard. For the successful implementation of these changes, massive teacher training programs should be conducted so that they can change their mindset and skillset accordingly. We hope that this New Education Policy 2020 will help our children in building their bright future.

REMEMBERING PANDIT JASRAJ JI

  The most renowned Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj Ji died on 17 August 2020 due to cardiac arrest in New Jersey. He was 90 years old.  Jasraj Ji was born on 28  January 1930 in a family of musicians with a history of over four generations in Pili Mandori, a village in the Hisar district of Haryana. His father was Pandit Motiram Ji who died when Jasraj Ji was only 3  years old. He spends almost 75 years of his life in a musical career. He not only gained national fame but also he was famous in other countries. Initially, his dream is to become a Tabla player but after knowing about the ill-treatment given by people to the Tabla artists he changed his mind. When he was 16 years old, he started training himself as a vocalist and performed his first live concert at the age of 22. He married to Madhura Pandit daughter of V. Shantaram in 1962.
